Draft order for an extension to the Moiry cabin
Project 2005
Associates: François Meyer, Claude Fabrizzi
Programme: Lunchroom, kitchen, balcony, bedrooms, dormitories
and bathrooms (about twice the current size)
Located in a high altitude setting of 2 825 metres, the cabin
was built in 1924 then extended in 1970. Through the use of
natural stones found in the area, the cabin has a strong presence
atmosphere while at the same time integrating smoothly within
its natural environment.
The extension refers to the minerals, such as a crystal set
on its bedrock. In an environment so hostile yet so beautiful,
the objective was to build an economical, compact and solid
unit while at the same time drawing attention to the landscape.
The new reflective façades blend in just like a chameleon
changing its colours to match its environment.
