Commission – Multipurpose Sports Hall, Flanthey

Blueprint 2003
Associate: Cordonier

Brief: To add an entrance hall, a multipurpose sports hall, service and storage areas, cloakrooms and a library to the existing educational complex.

The quincunx positioning of the new buildings provides an optimum of light and a clear differentiation between the classrooms, the sports hall and the polyvalent areas.

The buildings are articulated around the existing courtyard, making it a flexible area for several types of activity: school playground, extension of the foyer for social events, reception area, or a car park when the main hall is being used.

The building is cased in tinted concrete, the interior is insolated and lined with wood panels. These incorporate the acoustic fittings on the walls and ceiling that are needed to meet the audio requirements of a multipurpose hall.

The need for soft subdued lighting overall is met by openings, covered with pvc coupolas, on all sides.
